What a crazy-weather end to the week. It can't remember the last time it snowed this much at once. The snow noticeably changed attendance on Thursday, as we had smaller-than-usual classes, school-wide.
We have been busy learning about numbers. Did you know there are more than five ways to show a number? we have been learning how numbers are represented. In case you want to know the ways we've been learning are:
- numeric number: 2
- word number- two
- tens frame
- picture number/ one-to-one correspondence
- tally
- dice
Volunteers:
We have had a few parents/grandparents come in over the last couple of weeks to volunteer in class. They have led some small reading groups, played games, and done some classroom work. We have more opportunities for you to volunteer. On Thursday February 22 our class is participating in wool art through Artfelt Studios we need 4-5 parents for both the morning and afternoon kindergarten classes. If you are available to help that day please email me at rwstraiton@cbe.ab.ca.

Valentines:
Valentines day is quickly approaching and many of our students are excited
to pass out Valentines to their friends. On Wednesday February 14 our
class will take some time to distribute Valentines to our classmates. Handing
out Valentines is completely optional. However I have a few guidelines to
ensure this activity is enjoyable for all students.
Cards
If your child is participating in Valentines Day and handing out Valentine cards at school, please ensure you have a Valentine for every classmate in their class. The class list are below to ensure no one is missed. You could also have your child write just the "from" part and then they can hand out any valentine to any student. AM class has 22 students and PM class has 19 students.
Food
-
Do not send candies, chocolate or edible treats
-
If you wish to send a fruit or vegetable snack
for the class (for example, enough apple slices for 22 students) please email
me. The first 4 families from each class to respond will be asked to send a healthy snack. There will be other opportunities throughout the year to provide a
snack too. J
Students can wear red, pink, hearts etc. if they want to!
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks!
Mr. Straiton
