We have had a great short week of learning in class. Students have been comparing the various ways to represent numbers through matching games and Number Talks (class discussions). We have been learning about rhyming and making up silly words to show how rhyming works. This included recreating our valentines greetings to Happy Valentines: Day, May, Fay, Kay, Lay, Cay, Say, Way, Nay, Yay, Bay, etc.
We also shared our thoughts about the Olympics, watched some daily highlights from PyeongChang and discussed how we get to cheer for our nation, our athletes, and sportsmanship. Many were fascinated by luge, and were excited to hear that Alex Gough, who won the bronze medal, is from Calgary. My apologies, if down the road they all decide that they want to compete in Luge.
Next Week we will be starting our home reading program. Information will be sent out through email and with books that will be sent home. Please look in your child's backpack for books and information.
